So perhaps we need to look at this list differently for now. It would have been closer to 400 a few months ago. Across the country, the people who feed us are fighting for economic survival. Restaurants have shuttered - some temporarily, some permanently. Owners have seen their savings shrink toward zero.
Dedicated chefs and servers have lost their jobs. Worse, the shutdown associated with the virus has decimated the restaurant industry. Then the COVID-19 pandemic happened, and we all stopped traveling. I'm glad I got to try this place, but I doubt I'll be back.The original idea was that we’d provide you with a guide to help you find your next great meal as you traveled the country. For example, there's another local place- Theo's Pizza, right across the street and they have better prices and more options. This spot is a Metairie classic, but there are better options out there. They were generous with the cheese and I did like how big the mushrooms are. I didn't really like that the pepperoni was under the cheese, so it didn't have a chance to crisp up in the oven. The pizza was good, but was it $22 good? No.
We ordered the Tower Special, which came topped with sausage, pepperoni, onions, green peppers and mushrooms. How hard would it be to just have some canned tea in the fridge for people who want it? There's no bread or anything like that, which we found kind of odd and they also didn't have tea on the menu. The menu is pretty basic: you got pizza, salad and spaghetti. tables and chairs and a window looking into the kitchen. The place is about as basic as a pizza parlor gets: it's located in a strip mall and it's a "seat yourself" place with. I had heard raves about this spot from pizza lovers, so David and I decided to check it out for dinner.
